Danielle Willis may look cute in a cape with blood dripping from her mouth, but she may also be one of the finest poets to come out of the freak-take-all streets of Santa Cruz and San Francisco during the Nineties. Her lean narrative style fits an otherwise incomprehensible time and place with early-morning reality; if you thought San Francisco was crazy before, this poetry aches with the emotions sprung from trying to live in the middle of it.
